Tap-Ins |
Over the years, the Colorado Junior Golf Association has produced a newsletter for the sole purpose of informing our membership of news, events and other available activities. In 2004, the newsletter was converted to an internet and email based form. The transition has been a tremendous success. Tap-Ins is issued on a quarterly basis at which time it is emailed to the entire CJGA membership along with being posted here on our website. If you have information pertinent to junior golf, and feel it would be a good addition to our newsletter, please contact the CJGA staff.

SHORT
GAME: Getting Up and Down
McGetrick Golf Academy
Sunday, May 4, 2008 (3:30-5:30 pm)
Short shots
around the green provide the greatest opportunity for improvement. The
short game is responsible for 65% of your score from 100 yards and in,
with putting making up about 40%. We recommend that you spend at least
50% of your practice time on your short game. This class will teach you
some great ways to practice your touch, both on and around the greens.

A.C.E.
(Analyze - Commit - Execute)
Written by Trent Wearner
What you
do in preparation for a shot, both physically and mentally, along with
the consistency to this pre-shot routine is crucial and directly relates
to the consistency of your results. Having a sound routine on the
course is of the utmost importance. It is your foundation and what you
rely on during every situation in golf. Some of those situations
include first tee jitters, a pressure-packed putt, a must up-and-down
and any other imaginable circumstance.
|
Target, Shot and Club Selection Factors
Written by Trent Wearner
When
evaluating a shot, you need to take into consideration many factors in
order to accurately choose a target, type of shot and club with which to
use. By doing so, you’ll be saving strokes and therefore time. In an
effort to avoid being the culprit of slow play, golfers kindly try to
hurry but added strokes and looking for golf balls slows down play.
Others find it easy to get caught up in the urgency of wanting to see
the result of the shot. Regardless of the reason, not properly
evaluating it will almost always ensure a poor outcome, and therefore
additional and unnecessary strokes. |

Accu-Length
Junior Golf Equipment |
Unfortunately, over 65% of junior
golfers currently use cut down clubs, so many junior golfers start their
careers with improper shaft stiffness, head angles and head weights.
Why? Because there has never been an affordable alternative UNTIL NOW!
Accu-Length is the only custom fit and affordable Junior clubs
that grow with your child. Most juniors develop their swings using
faulty equipment that leads to life long swing flaws. For more
information on the Accu-Length equipment visit their website at:
www.acculength.com
Supported by the CJGA and the Colorado Section of the PGA.
